Sweet Baby Charlie!

This photo shoot has to go down as one of my favorites! I have always loved the idea of photographing newborns outside, and I finally got to do just that with baby Charlie! The day was overcast and warm, which was perfect for the shoot! Charlie slept so well and even gave us a few smiles! A few of the props used are brand new, and I had so much fun using them in such a natural environment! A special thanks to kelley for being up to doing an outdoor photo session!

I know I have been MIA for a few weeks as I was in South America, but I am now back and have many upcoming shoots! This is sweet little Reagan and she was such a joy to photograph! Her delicate little blonde features were just so feminine and beautiful! I am in love with the look of her diaper cover and plan to buy a few for upcoming newborn shoots!

I just love Mabel! She is an absolutely beautiful little girl, and such a natural in front of the camera! We had a fabulous time using different props and playing with the cats! I think my favorite prop was the horse, it seem to add a nostalgic and magical feel to the shots!

I had such a blast shooting cousin's Baylee and Taylor! It was so fun to see how they interacted with each other and the different props we used! The goal of this shoot was to organically capture the girls exploring their environment, interacting together, and having fun! The girls are wearing Giggle Moon clothing and many of these shots are being featured on the Giggle Moon website!

Oliver and Guapo

Recently, I have had a few inquires about animal photography! So I thought I would share a few photos of my dogs Guapo (shari-pei) and Oliver (Bulldog). Guapo is an old soul; very sweet, extremely smart and in tune with how we feel. Oliver is quite different! He doesn't see or smell the best, he barks at his shadow, hides behind guapo when he's scared, is easily distracted, snores, and the list goes on. But in all, he is an absolute sweet heart and constantly keeps us laughing with his antics and that adorable smashed in face!

Meet my cousin's Gordy, Alexis and baby Michael! They were such a blast to photograph and could Michael be any cuter? He was such a love bug throughout the whole shoot, giving his Mommy and Daddy kisses, hugs, and giggles! He also showed me some adorable dance moves! We would all start singing and he would raise his fists and sway from side to side . His favorite song seemed to be Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam! He really got a kick eating sand and tasting seaweed, he's definitely a beach baby at heart! Gordy and Alexis currently live in Idaho and were in town to look at real estate and were all hoping they will be able to move here permanently! This is little Harper, born just 45 minutes after her parents got to the hospital! She was such a joy to photograph! At just 3 weeks she had such beautifully defined little features! And I just loved her little swirl of hair on her forehead. What an absolutely gorgeous baby!

Baylee is so cute I think I could eat her up! Below is her newborn photo that I took about 9 months ago and it is amazing to see how she has grown into a little person! Sweet Sisterly Love

I just love when I am able to have a photo shoot in the late afternoon. The deep yellow rays of our San Diego winter setting sun adds such depth and warmth! These beautiful sisters were a joy to photograph! They were so sweet with each other and loved the camera! As soon as we started the shoot, they began smiling with excitement and towards the end of the shoot I was able to capture their more peaceful expressions. Beautiful...

Sienna recently turned 4, and I still can't believe how smart, well- spoken, and beyond her years she is! She is a fun-loving, beautiful little girl, and I had a blast with her and her mom Taylor in the studio! She showed me some cool dance moves, and I was so impressed with her posing skills in front of the camera. When I complemented her bedazzled twinkle toe shoes, she whispered in my ear "well...they come in big sizes too!". She said cute, funny things like that all throughout the shoot, and was so enthusiastic, energetic and just loved the camera! A special thanks to my friend Taylor for sharing your gorgeous daughter with me!

Sweet Julia

I love this last shot of sweet little Julia looking bright eyed at the camera, and sucking in her lip. I just love when babies look directly into the lens, and connect with the camera! The lighting coming in the window that day was so warm and beautiful, that I used mostly natural light with a little bit of strobe to fill in the shadows. One of the things I love to see during a shoot is sibling interaction, and Isabella is so sweet with Jackson. In the last photo, Isabella is actually siting behind Jackson and holding him up!

Family Photography Event

This past Saturday Feeding the Soul Foundation and I hosted our first Family Photography Event to benefit Mental Health Systems Family Recovery Center in Oceanside. It was a wonderful day of photography, contribution, amazing raffle items, hula hoops, games, and lots of fun! We had 7 wonderful photographers and a total of 9 families attend! The event took place in Oceanside at Maisonnette, Jitters Coffee Pub and the beach. There were 3 photographers stationed at Maisonnette, 2 photographers at Jitters Coffee Pub and 2 photographers on the beach. Families paid only $25 to get in on the event, and that included 5 raffle tickets as well! Once the families arrived they were given a map, and an exact schedule of who they were photographing with and at what time. Families began rotating from photographer to photographer at 1:00 and were finished rotating at 4:30. We then had an amazing raffle that included a signed photo of Jason Mraz, Anna Maria fabric purse and clutch designed by Lauren Kurtz, Apotheque spa gift basket, $20 gift certificate to Oceansky Beads, a childrens outfit designed by Madeline Warr, 3 free 8x10 prints, a free 12x16 print, a free 16x20 framed print, a full family session and a newborn session. We also had amazing treats made with love by Vallie Gillie, owner of Jitters Coffee Pub, founder of Feeding the Soul Foundation and wonderful friend. The event was definitely a success, and we plan to have many more in the future! An extra special thanks to Feeding the Soul Foundation's event planner Mel Grove for making the event possible by encouraging, inspiring and helping me with everything from getting the word out, to coordinating families,! I would also like to thank Cat, Vallie, Todd Keitel Photography, James Croft Photography, Jenny Pearlman Photography, Cass Hillstrand Photography, Stacey Prince Photography, Photography by Lace, Amanda, Tiffany, Madeline, Emily and Mom for all your help and contribution to make this event possible!

Wow! I had such a blast photographing Nichelle Medina of KFMB News 8 and her husband Mike last weekend. We began with some couple shots, and then did some professional head shots of Nichelle. This beautiful baby boy is Michael! I have to tell you, Michael holds a special place in my heart, he is my cousin Alexis and her husband Gordy's first baby! They live in Idaho, I had the pleasure of staying in their home and then traveling to San Diego with them. He is absolutely adorable, and such a good, happy baby...I'm not at all biased! We had an amazing time in the studio with lots of laughs! Thank you Alexis and Grandma Betty for all your help in the studio, and thank you Gordy, and Alexis for sharing your sweet baby boy with me!

Ecuador

Every year in August for the past three years, I have traveled to Ecuador to help out at a camp for kids that my cousins run. The camp is run at different rose farms on the outskirts of Quito, and consists of craft class, christian bible class, song class, games, and sports. These photos are from the first camp group we did at a farm called jumbo roses. It was such a rewarding experience working with and photographing these absolutely beautiful children!

At lunch time, the kids ate a huge lunch of soup, rice, meat, vegetables and fresh juice.

Yes! They loved hula-hooping or as they called it hula hula!

That's me, with a few of the girls...They absolutely loved my digital camera, and wanted to know how the image showed up on the LCD screen on the back.

This is Jimmy! He was quite a character and would whisper in all of our ears. I couldn't understand what he was saying but it was pretty cute!

I recently traveled up to the LA area to shoot two beautiful baby girl twins! They are relatives of baby Baylee, and are of course absolutely gorgeous babies. The shoot lasted about 4 hours, and we were able to capture some absolutely breathtaking moments. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time with them, and it was so amazing to see how the girls interacted with each other. Thank you David, Gretchen and Carolina for such a wonderful time!

Utah!

My family and I just got back from a weekend snowboard/ ski getaway to Peragona, Utah, a quaint little town about 20 minutes from Brianhead. We stayed with my Uncle Harold and Aunt Betty, who settled in Peragona to retire and I can see why! Little wild cats, kittens, and deer roam the streets, the mountains glow in the distance at sunset , the sound of nature echos the streets, the snow sparkles in the sunlight and the old and antique are preserved, making Paragona a most beautiful and peaceful destination. Although we spent our 3 days snowboarding and tubing, there was a little time for me to wander around and photograph. I also added in a few photographs of Brice canyon (1 hour away) from our last trip.

Yeah, we were so excited about all the snow! We don't get much snow in San Diego!

Light Bulbs and Red Dresses

I mounted the 3 red dress images together as a triptic and since my sister was unavaiable that day, the girl in the red dress is me! I actually used these images for my mundane project. The assignment was to make a mundance area look interesting...Think I accomplished that?

Baby Stella

Stella was my first official newborn! She was 2 1/2 weeks old at the time, and the session lasted about 3 hours! Not only was she absolutely beautiful, she was a great sleeper too! What more could I ask for? Needless to say after this shoot, I am completely addicted to photographing newborns, and the ideas for my next session are swirling around in my head!
